Vinyl skirting - the piecesThere are four types of pieces that are used when putting new vinyl skirting on your home. Skirting panels, top front, top back, and ground track. Four of the top front pieces need to be notched to create a smooth look to the four corners of your home. Also included in the vinyl skirting package screws to hold the top back to the house and stakes to hold the ground track to the earth.
Skirting is sold in 12' vertical lengths. Top front, top back, and ground track are sold in 12' horizontal lengths. But the pieces are really 11'8"/ Skirting is cut and installed vertically, while the other pieces are kept horizontal. Gets confusing, right? Let's slow it down.
Your house may be 2' or less off the ground, but it just as easily might be 4' or more. The higher your manufactured housing sits off the ground, the longer you will cut the pieces of skirting.
That's why it is so important to know the average height from the ground to the bottom of your mobile home.
Measure the height at each of the four corners, as well as the middle point of each of the four sides, to get your average height and determine how much skirting you need.
